'He retains enough ability to win again' - Alan Sweetman has two Monday tips

High Altitude
2.25 Killarney
1pt win

Four-time course-and-distance winner can enhance his Killarney record with victory in the first division of the Muckross Handicap.

The eight-year-old has run six times this season, only twice showing anything like his best form. Significantly, his two best runs have been at the Kerry track, finishing a one-length runner-up at the July meeting and a close-up fourth on his most recent visit in August.

On both occasions, he had a double-figure draw that is not ideal at this venue. This time he is in the number one berth and is reunited with title-chasing Colin Keane, who has ridden him only once since a 2018 victory.

High Altitude has come down in the weights as a result of a long losing sequence. Now on 63, he is 8lb lower than at the start of the current campaign and 18lb lower than at the time of his most recent win in a rated race at the venue two seasons ago.

Although not the force he was, he retains enough ability to win again at his favourite track.

Forgetmenotblue
3.25 Killarney
2pts win

Dermot Weld's eight-race maiden Forgetmenotblue appears to have her best chance yet in the first division of the Ross Road Handicap.

Neither the extended 1m3f trip nor very soft ground should pose a problem for the Pivotal filly, consistent in turf handicaps since qualifying for a mark with three undistinguished runs at Dundalk.

Placed in three of her five handicaps and never worse than fifth, she has form that ties in with one of the season's most progressive handicappers, Urban Oasis.

A second place over 1m4f on soft ground at Roscommon in May also looked promising. Even though her stable was struggling for winners when she ran over a shorter trip at Gowran in June, she managed to run quite respectably again.

After that, she was off three months before providing plenty of encouragement with a staying-on fifth at Down Royal a fortnight ago.

Her dam Love in The Sun, who showed a liking for heavy ground when winning two handicaps for Weld in 2016, has produced a useful sort in Blue For You, who won twice for Rosewell House before joining David O'Meara, for whom she won the valuable Clipper Logistics Handicap at York in August.
