Manvers House has yet to win a race, but he is undeniably well handicapped on his best hurdles form and he shaped an awful lot better on his chase debut at Newbury than the 'P' next to his name would suggest.

The Robert Walford-trained eight-year-old largely jumped very well, and it was a case of getting a little unsighted and actually over-jumping the third-last (never touched the fence) that led to his race-ending error.
