Haydock Placepot picks: Paul Kealy has a pair of bankers on Betfair Chase day
Haydock provides by far the most competitive jumps card in Britain so is the obvious destination for a Placepot play, although I wouldn't get too extravagant with the perm.
We'll bookend the perm with a pair of bankers, starting with in the opener. (12.10) He pulled all the way on his hurdles debut at Newton Abbot, but still quickened well clear of a subsequent winner and will surely be tough to beat.
In the following staying chase course specialist should be primed after last month's return at Sedgefield, while remains a potentially well-handicapped stayer for Philip Hobbs.
The next (1.15) is much more competitive but I expect to get closer to Our Surprise than he did at Wetherby now he's had a run, while the strong-travelling may well prefer this track to Carlisle, where he was third to Bass Rock last time.
I can't bring myself to bank on in the next (1.50) because s form is too good and we need the winner, so it will have to be two there.
I am pretty warm on the chances of in leg five (2.25), but it's competitive, so we'd better double up, with being the one who is next on my list.
The Betfair Chase (3.00) is the final leg, and although A Plus Tard has a favourite's chance and Waiting Patiently is respected, is the Haydock king.
He might not win this for the fourth time, but I'm more than happy to bank on him hitting the three.
