Haydock Placepot picks: Graeme Rodway's tips for the £100,000 pool

The £100,000 Placepot guarantee is at Haydock, so let’s tackle the first six races there.

The opening 3m½f conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle (1.05) is a tough start so it makes sense to include a pair. Theme Tune ran well at Kelso last time and goes in with Post Chaise.

The 3m½f maiden hurdle (1.35) is another tricky race as only five are declared so just two places are available. Go with form over promise and stick with No But I Will and Inis Oirr.

The winner will be needed in the 2m5½f novice chase (2.07). Beauport looked good when winning the Colin Parker and must be included alongside Ballygrifincottage.

The 1m7½f introductory hurdle (2.37) offers up the chance for the first banker, provided all eight runners go to post. Hullnback was a smart bumper performer and he could be the one.

The 3m1½f veterans’ chase (3.07) is a cracker and one of my best bets of the day runs. Up Helly Aa King ran well at Kelso last time and is strongly fancied to make the first three.

The 2m3f handicap hurdle (3.37) is the last leg and Djelo was so impressive at Exeter that it’s hard to get away from him. He is 10lb well in and looks sure to be in the first two places.
