Former jumpers fancied to make their mark after being returned to the Flat

After John Ferguson took over as chief executive at Godolphin most of his ex-jumpers went to the sales, but the handful that have rejoined the owners to race on the Flat have generally justified the decision. Francis Of Assisi can become the latest to do so by landing the 1m6f handicap (3.45) at Goodwood.

The six-year-old recorded the last of his three Flat wins for Aidan O’Brien in a 7f Listed race at Leopardstown in November 2013 and went on to secure a further three wins over hurdles.
