Graeme Rodway with his take on the Placepot at Southwell

The British Lion was a good second over course and distance last time and there’s no need for a back-up in the opener (4.30). Given the insurance, this is a good race for a banker.

Custard The Dragon was another who finished a narrow runner-up over course and distance last time and he should be taken in the mile handicap (5.00). He rates as another banker.

The 7f maiden (5.30) is a tricky race. The twice-raced Open Mystery sets the standard on form but that's not particularly high, so it’s worth including one of the newcomers. Mehmento appeals most.

The 6f handicap (6.00) looks another tough one and maybe Archimedes could be the answer.

It will be hard to keep Unleash out of the places in the following 5f maiden (6.30), while in the 5f handicap (7.00) it’s worth sticking with the in-form pair of Gossip and Leo Minor.
