Graeme Rodway with his eight-line perm for the Wolverhampton Placepot
The opener at Wolverhampton (5.40) looks wide open and it might be worth taking a chance on In The Cove returning to form after a 51-day absence. He should be a good price and could bolster the dividend, but recent form suggests he isn’t banker material so Lucky Lodge is the deputy.
In leg two (6.10) a chance is taken on the well-handicapped Grey D’Ars coming back to form. The solid option there appears to be One To Go.
The 1m1½f three-year-old handicap (6.40) looks a trappy contest with several potential improvers lining up. It may pay to play it safe with Glorious Caesar and Night Voyager.
Moohareeba is forecast to go off favourite on her debut in the novice event (7.10) but there is always an element of risk involved with newcomers and I’d rather go with the form horse Dark Scimitar. There are only two places on offer but his experience should help.
Rocketeer brings solid form into the 6f handicap (7.40) and also looks banker material, and if we make it to the finale (8.10) let’s hope likely market leader New Arrival can bring home the bacon.
