Graeme Rodway reckons he's found the key to the Lingfield Placepot

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

The heavy ground puts me off the Placepot at Warwick, so let’s go to Lingfield instead.

Thegreatestshowman will be a short price for the opening 5f handicap (12.25) and should be included. However, only two places are on offer, so take some insurance with Saaheq too.

Protected Guest ran a cracker when beaten a short head over course and distance last week and should run well in the 1m4f handicap (1.00). Furzig might prove the best alternative.

Thapa VC looks hard to oppose in the mile handicap (1.30), but there are only two places on offer and it might be worth including Crane too. He is well bred and looks a likely improver.

Fox Duty Free will probably be a warm order in the following mile handicap (2.00), but his best form is over 7f and he is worth opposing. Take him on with proven stayer Crownthorpe.

Queen’s Course is ahead of the handicapper and rates a banker in the 7f handicap (2.35).

Desert Marathon is also banker material in the 7f novice (3.05). She shaped with loads of promise when third over course and distance last time after finding trouble in running.
