Glencadam Glory could give buyers a payday under excellent McCain
Glencadam Glory
3.15 Doncaster
Buy at 4 on index
This inconsistent six-year-old has been below form on his last two starts but he is capable of smart handicap form at his best and showed that when second in the Ebor at York this year.
He was beaten only a half-length by winner Fujaira Prince, who has since finished second in the Group 1 Irish St Leger and third in the Group 2 for stayers on British Champions Day.
Glencadam Glory had the reopposing Euchen Glen around five lengths behind in fifth and that rival has since gone on to win three of his last four starts. As a result, Glencadam Glory is 3lb better off with Euchen Glen at these weights, despite having beaten him at York.
It’s possible to argue Glencadam Glory was flattered in the Ebor after gaining an easy lead, but even taking that into account it was a solid run and he has plenty of other form too.
He was a good sixth of 16 in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock in July and finished only a length behind the winner when fifth in the Bell Ringer at Ripon next time. A reproduction of either run would give him strong claims, especially with Ella McCain booked claiming 7lb.
McCain is a promising apprentice who rates value for her allowance and she can be trusted to get the best from this talented but quirky character.
