Handicappers' nap

Good Birthday (1.50 Newmarket)

Beaten over 1m4f at Royal Ascot last time but posted career-bests on previous two starts at 1m2f. Possibly went too soon when third at Newbury in May and still has room for improvement at this distance.
Sam Walker

Newmarket nap

Ironclad (3.45 York)

Hugo Palmer's classy type has a workable mark of 81 and has worked well on the Al Bahathri of late.
David Milnes

Eyecatcher

Ben Vrackie (3.00 Newmarket)

Slowly away, he came with a strong run in the straight in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes last month but was denied narrowly by Baghdad. That was a fine run on his seasonal return and he looks one to keep firmly onside.
Raceform

Speed Figures

Bella Vita (4.00 Ascot)

Has won all three starts over ten furlongs this year and can maintain her successful sequence over this longer trip.
Dave Edwards

Spotlight nap

One Master (3.35 Newmarket)

Won the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp last year, behind two of these on reappearance, but back to her best when a close third in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot.
Ron Wood

Irish Angle

Peregrine Run (7.50 Cork)

The nine-year-old reverts to hurdles for the first time since March following four consecutive victories over fences. A four-time winning hurdler, he is well-treated by the race conditions and makes plenty of appeal with trip and ground to suit.
Tony O'Hehir

Dark horse

Royal Intervention (3.15 York)

Not hit the heights of last season yet but won a Listed contest at Newmarket on good to firm last June and could go close here.
Rob Sutton

Must-have stat of the day

War Front is 10-33 with his offspring on the July course at Newmarket in the last five seasons, improving to 7-15 with three-year-old runners (+£55.62 to £1 level stakes). Almashriq is by that sire and runs in the 1m2f handicap at 1.50.
