Ascot Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his selections for a £50,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote’s £50,000 Placepot guarantee is at Ascot and the opening 5f conditions stakes (1.10) for two-year-olds is a real guessing game. Wise Approach is an interesting newcomer for the Charlie Appleby team and must be included, while Dickensian is the best of them with form.

The Listed Paradise Stakes (1.40) comes up next and course specialist Docklands can be trusted to make the places. He has two wins, two seconds and a third from five Ascot runs.

The winner will be needed in the Sagaro Stakes (2.15) because only four have been declared. Coltrane is the obvious choice, but don’t rule out Divine Comedy, who is an improving mare.

Rebel’s Gamble is my fancy for the Commonwealth Cup Trial (2.50), but Ain’t Nobody could also go well at a price, while Blue Day stands out as a banker in the 5f handicap (3.23).

The last leg is the mile fillies' novice (3.55) and only two places are available. Victory Queen has a clear form chance for Appleby and Godolphin, but Breckenbrough also looks one to put in.
