The Punt Acca: Laurence Morter's three horse racing tips at Newmarket on Tuesday

Three horses to include in a multiple at the Craven meeting

Nightwalker (2.25 Newmarket)

Nightwalker showed plenty of ability in his three runs last season. He ran well on his debut, but showed signs of inexperience when hanging right in the closing stages. However, he looked to have learned from his mistakes and confirmed his potential when winning convincingly in a tough maiden at Yarmouth on his next outing. Conditions probably did not suit him last time in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes as there was a lot of rain around and the ground was saturated. He ran reasonably well but was not able to catch the leading pair. He is a big horse who should appreciate this step up in trip and on a sounder surface he should go well.

Verse Of Love (3.35 Newmarket)

An impressive course-and-distance win on her only start as a two-year-old confirmed Verse Of Love as one of the more promising fillies heading into 2025. She did not seem to mind the bit of cut in the ground and travelled well, pulling clear of the field in the closing stages. She looks to be a potentially smart prospect, the only downside for her would be that she is slightly inexperienced in comparison to some of her rivals and did look slightly green on her run last year. However, an impressive win on the Rowley Mile is always a positive and her pedigree suggests she will be suited by races like these. This looks a good starting point for her three-year-old campaign.

The Trickster (5.20 Newmarket)

The Trickster picked up two wins from two in his juvenile campaign. He got off to the perfect start when winning narrowly at Beverley in September. He followed that up with a more convincing win at Redcar a month later. Both times he travelled well and showed determination to get to the front. He will need to be at his best on his handicap debut, but the attitude he has shown so far will stand him in good stead for this task and he has every chance of bringing up a hat-trick.
