The Punt Acca: Charlie Huggins' three horse racing tips at Stratford and Newcastle on Thursday
Three horses to include in a multiple on Thursday . . .
Wednesday Addams (1.05 Stratford)
Knockmullen House point-to-point winner who was bought for £55,000 before chasing home subsequent Newbury winner Jasmine Bliss on her rules debut at Wetherby in January. Pitched into Grade 2 company at Aintree on only her third start under rules, her 12th-placed finish was still a respectable effort when you consider that the third, fifth, seventh, 13th and 14th have all won over hurdles since. Wednesday Addams was second over 2m4f on her hurdling debut at Perth in May, but should improve for the extra two furlongs here and her trainer Ben Case has enjoyed three winners from his last seven runners.
Sixmilebridge (1.35 Stratford)
£100,000 recruit who made a successful rules debut in good style at Sandown in February. The third-placed Pony Soprano and Touquet, who Sixmilebridge beat by 16 lengths, have both made successful hurdling debuts on their sole starts since. Therefore, the form looks solid and finishing down the field in the Champion Bumper is not a major concern given that he finished a place behind Quebecois, who bolted up at Chepstow on Tuesday and is being targeted at the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle, in that Cheltenham Festival contest.
Masterpiece (4.15 Newcastle)
Fifth on his debut at Doncaster in February and the third has won subsequently. Masterpiece improved on that first run to finish third behind Lion City at Sedgefield last month. The runner-up, Cloudy View, went on to be third of 14 in a Cheltenham bumper last Saturday, finishing ahead of some highly regarded types despite clipping heels and stumbling five furlongs out. That effort was even more impressive when you consider he was giving the winner 3lb and second 4lb, so on the strength of that formline and with the benefit of more experience under rules than some potential smart newcomers here, I am willing to take a chance on Masterpiece.
