Robbie Wilders' play of the day at Fairyhouse

Serienmond

5.05 Fairyhouse

It may be worth turning to the Gavin Cromwell-trained Serienmond off a feather weight under top claimer Conor Stone-Walsh.

Serienmond showed glimpses of promise for Tony Mullins in 2024, but turned a corner on his stable debut for Cromwell when an easy winner at Leopardstown last month in a first-time hood following three months off.

The selection is yet to encounter proper slow ground since moving to Ireland, but was mustard on that surface on the Flat in Germany and could improve plenty for more testing terrain. He won his maiden by five lengths in very soft conditions, and was a 16-length winner of a 14-runner 1m2f handicap on his sole start on heavy.

The hood he took well to at Leopardstown is retained, and few are better than Cromwell in this sort of race. It would be a surprise if a hurdles mark of 117 was the extent of Serienmond's ability in this sphere.
