Paul Kealy's play of the day at Perth

King Roly

2.25 Perth

It may be worth taking a chance on King Roly in division one of the Class 4 handicap hurdle over 2m4f.

He's a decent-ground performer whose two runs since a winter break have come on desperate going, including last time at Wexford, where trainers Peter and Michael Bowen sent him in search of better ground only to be presented with a bog.

It might have been officially yielding, but only the 2m beginners' chase that day was run in a time less than 45 seconds slower than standard and it was at least soft by anyone's standards.

King Roly shaped well for a long way in the lead but didn't get home. He won a bumper by 11 lengths here on good ground in August and also scored at Worcester over hurdles in September, and this represents his best chance of going in again, even though he's a likely outsider on recent form.
