Paul Kealy's play of the day at Cheltenham

Senior tipster

Georgi Girl

3.20 Cheltenham

I'd have been half-interested in Epinephrine in the 20-runner handicap hurdle (2.45) had Venetia Williams been in any sort of form, but she hasn't even run anything since Aintree, so instead I'll focus on a stable that has been going well in the mares' novice handicap chase (3.20).

Irish horses dominate the market and I can certainly see why Henry de Bromhead's Theatre Native is preferred over the Mullins pair, but if the Philip Hobbs and Johnson White-trained Georgi Girl is going to win a race over fences it might well be here on good ground.

She has shown enough in three chase outings to suggest she has a future over fences and, while she hasn't won over hurdles at Cheltenham, the course has brought out the best in her.

She was sixth of 16 to Pretending at this meeting last year and would undoubtedly have been in the first four but for a bad mistake at the last.

Her only other run at the track came in November when she was fifth, beaten only four and a half lengths, in another handicap off a mark of 129, and that form is incredibly strong given the winner was Wodhooh and the runner-up was Joyeuse.

The third and fourth are both a fair bit higher in the handicap now than they were then as well, while Georgi Girl is 3lb lower over fences. She certainly has the ability to figure and this small field will suit.
