Newmarket's card will naturally require a few shots in the dark given the amount of two-year-old races on the card. The rewards are clearly there, though, with the £50,000 Placepot guarantee.

In the opener (1.50), So Logical's experience can count, while Shemozzle strikes as the more likely to be readied of the Ralph Beckett-trained pair.

There is more to go on in the second race (2.25), including a promising debut from Brioni in spite of his starting price. Eulace Peacock combines experience and achievement.

The Beckett-trained Sea The Thunder improved significantly granted soft ground on his second run and gets the nod in race three (3.00). Back him up with debutant Crown Of India, whose pedigree jumps out and the booking of Tom Marquand hints at some intent.

The next two races are handicaps, but bankers are hard to find. High Point needs the backup option of Prepschool in the nursery (3.35). I suspect Rocha Do Leao is being overlooked in the fillies' handicap (4.10) but cannot go it alone with her. Include Bint Al Daar.

A banker is suggested in the final leg (4.45), at least partly because Feigning Madness will be hard to get out of the three if he repeats the performance of his successful debut.
