'He should reverse form with the winner' - Harry Wilson's tips for every race at Southwell on Sunday

Our tipster provides his fancies for the Premier action on Sunday

Harry Wilson returns with his advice for all eight races from Southwell on Sunday. . .

3.15 Southwell
Grace & Dotty Fedora's And Feathers Handicap, 7f

Harry's tip: King Of Ithaca

King Of Ithaca has a solid record at Southwell, with course form figures reading 131215. That fifth on his last start does not tell the whole story, as he was hampered over a furlong out and did not enjoy a clear run through, but it suggested his career-high mark was not beyond him. He gets to run off a mark 1lb lower and can make amends for that luckless effort.

Harry's tip: Alligator Alley

Alligator Alley finished a respectable fourth off the back of a 142-day break on his stable debut for Ruth Carr last month and can build on that now returned to the scene of his career-best effort. He has two wins from four starts over this course and distance (RPRs of 104 and 107), and he's now 18lb lower than when finishing fourth in a Class 2 handicap here in December 2023 on his last visit to Southwell. He is 2lb below his last winning mark and should get a nice tow into the race from his draw in stall nine.

4.15 Southwell
British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap, 1m4f

Harry's tip: Orchard Keeper

Overture was value for more than the winning margin of a neck when last seen and definitely has more to offer this year, but in third that day was Orchard Keeper, who has a 7lb swing in the weights with that rival here and has the advantage of having already had a run. She was poorly positioned at the back of the field at Leicester last time and did not have a lot of room to start her run when the race began to get going in earnest, so it was a good effort to be only beaten a length. She gets to run off the same mark here and showed she handled Tapeta when third at Wolverhampton last year.

4.45 Southwell
Golf And Gallop Fillies' Handicap, 1m

Harry's tip: Lunar Eclipse

Lunar Eclipse only managed two starts for Kevin Ryan last year after joining from David Simcock, for whom she made a winning a debut at Newmarket in November 2023, beating a few subsequent winners including the now 104-rated Fair Point. She was only beaten half a length on her handicap/stable debut at Newmarket in October before failing to stay a mile and a quarter in a Listed contest when last seen. That first effort came after 171 days off the track, so she clearly goes well fresh, and the fact her talented half-sister Zanbaq won on the all-weather gives hope that she will handle the surface well.

Harry's tip: Wicked

Wicked did not live up to market expectation on his debut at Yarmouth in October, when he was slowly away and could only manage sixth at odds of 3-1 in that soft-ground contest. He is likely to be better for the experience, though, and this Kingman colt is bred to be smart. Bought for 600,000gns as a yearling, he is closely related to 2,000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia, as well as being a half-brother to five-time Group 1 winner St Mark's Basilica, and the yard won this race last year with a useful sort.

5.45 Southwell
Steve Gregory 65th Birthday Handicap, 6f

Harry's tip: Don Pacifico

Don Pacifico was one of a few hard-luck stories in the three-year-old sprint at Newcastle on Good Friday, being persistently denied a clear run in the last couple of furlongs. He won in good style over this course and distance on his second start, having been an eyecatcher behind a useful one on his debut, and his reappearance third has been franked since by the winner, who was not beaten far in the Greenham next time. He has been dropped 1lb for last time and has more to offer.

Harry's tip: Rohaan

You have to forgive Rohaan's last two disappointments but returning to Southwell could be the key, as he has recorded his three best recent RPRs here (91, 92 and 91), including when going down by a length to subsequent winner We Never Stop last month (third has won since too). He can have that effort marked up, as he met trouble in running and was doing all his best work when the winner had gone, and should be up to taking advantage of a 2lb lower mark.

6.45 Southwell
Bloomfields Horseboxes Handicap, 2m½f

Harry's tip: Gibside

Gibside ended last season with a comfortable success at York in October when upped to this trip and suggested a return to this longer distance would suit when making a highly encouraging return behind the reopposing Caballo De Mar here three weeks ago. He was doing all his best work at the finish under a hands-and-heels ride and should reverse form with the winner on 3lb better terms here.
