Jockey Zac Purton is poised to crash through the 100-winner barrier at Happy Valley, where he has an excellent book of seven rides.

Sitting on 98 winners in another remarkable season, Purton has a strong chance of combining with ‘King Of The Valley’ Caspar Fownes for a long-awaited victory with Seven Heavens (3.15), now acclimatising after a slow start to his Hong Kong career.

The Frankel gelding, who won twice and finished third in Newmarket’s Free Handicap for John Gosden, is tipped to land an intriguing Class 3 6f sprint.

Last time out, Seven Heavens finished strongly from the back of the field in a sprint over Sha Tin’s straight five furlongs but was hampered badly when going for a gap between runners in the closing stages.

Stewards promoted the Fownes-trained five-year-old a place to third and relegated first-past-the post Utopia Life to fourth. It was hardly appropriate compensation but Seven Heavens can break the ice locally this time.

Another set to lose his maiden status in Hong Kong is Yee Cheong Pegasus (2.15), who can build on a promising last run to win the Class 4 6f Beijing Clubhouse Anniversary Cup.

The four-year-old came from a near-impossible position off a wide draw to finish sixth over course and distance, beaten only a length and three-quarters in a blanket finish. It was a run that pleaded ,'Back me next time'.

With an inside draw in stall three, and with Vincent Ho aboard, the David Hall-trained Yee Cheong Pegasus can finally make his mark.

Another to keep in mind is the lightly raced True Grit (1.15), who has spent the best part of six months at the Conghua training complex in China, a location his trainer John Size likes to use to freshen up his horses.

True Grit is tipped to win on his first run since October when he contests the Class 4 handicap, over an extended mile, with Joao Moreira in the saddle.
