Let's be honest the Flat season has been a long time in finishing and the jumps a long time in starting, but boy has it been worth the wait.

Thistlecrack made all the headlines with his faultless display at Chepstow and unlike many other World Hurdle winners to go chasing, he really does have a shot at going all the way to the top.

Most staying hurdlers I can remember keep a bit back for themselves. They tend to race behind the bridle and need plenty of stoking up, but Thistlecrack is totally the opposite. Not many stayers can be keen and still running away turning for home in a Grade 1 at Cheltenham over 3m, but that is what Thistlecrack did and that is the key to him over fences.
