Front-running Flintham, who was backed down to 1.06 in running on Betfair, deserved better than to be mugged on the line by Bigbadjohn (22) in the Grade 2 novice chase at Ascot.

Hugo Palmer-trained runners finished first and second in the mile maiden at Lingfield, with Dreaming Time holding off First Moon, who traded at 1.05. Somebody got carried away in laying the winner at 40.

Beyond Conceit needed every yard of the 2m3f novice hurdle at Ascot having been matched at 46. The second and third were done at odds-on.
