Elusive Heights can end barren spell if granted a clear passage

Credit: John Grossick

Newmarket: David Milnes

Mary Somerville (3.40 Lingfield, nap)

Ran a decent debut when second at Kempton in September but failed to back back that up when running too free in a maiden at Newmarket. John Gosden's filly should appreciate going back around a bend and has since worked well on the Al Bahathri.

Others to follow
Lingfield
1.00 Echo Cove, 1.30 Alexa Rose, 2.00 Merlin, 2.35 Move Swiftly, 3.05 Alwaysandforever, 4.10 Ubla
Newcastle 5.30 Boxatricks, 6.00 Repaupo
Wolverhampton 6.45 Calling The Wind, 7.15 Mubakker, 7.45 Come On Dave

Lambourn: James Burn

Cuttin' Edge (4.10 Lingfield, nap)

William Muir thought the world of this four-year-old as a juvenile, but he missed all of last season and has not fired this term. However, he was well-fancied at Leicester last time, which was his first run after a break, so hopefully he can step forward from that.

Others to follow
Lingfield
12.30 Appenzeller, 1.00 Bayston Hill, 2.35 Lush Life, 3.05 Cross My Mind
Newscatle 6.00 Headman
Sedgefield 2.25 Speedy Cargo, 2.55 Like The Sound
Stratford 1.10 Shannon Hill, 1.40 Thomas Campbell, 2.15 Elysian Prince, 2.45 Comanche Chieftain
Wolverhampton 5.45 It's Not Unusual, 6.45 Startego, 7.15 Shanghai Grace, 7.45 Captain Lars, 8.45 Let Me Stop You There

West Country: Tim Mitchell

Bradford Bridge (3.50 Stratford, nap)

Reverts to fences off a very attractive mark judged on the form he has shown over hurdles of late and he is fancied to continue his good run with conditions ideal.

Others to follow
Sedgefield 3.30 Western Sunrise
Stratford 2.15 Vancouver

North: Richard Young

Cadeaux Boxer (7.00 Newcastle, nap)

Yet to win but has shown ability and figures on a potentially decent mark on first run for Brian Ellison. Cheekpieces fitted and fancied to run well down in grade in a weak event.

Others to follow
Lingfield 1.00 Sosian, 2.00 Salateen, 2.35 Castle Hill Cassie, 3.05 Isabella
Sedgefield 1.20 Millie The Minx, 1.50 Black Art, 2.25 Sheriff Garrett, 2.55 Lough Derg Farmer, 3.30 Tickenwolf, 4.00 Champagne To Go
Newcastle 6.30 Elusive Heights, 7.30 Geography Teacher, 8.00 Indian Warrior
Wolverhampton 5.10 Nutopia, 5.45 Abushamah, 6.15 Foxy Lady, 6.45 Fantastic Ms Fox, 7.15 Angel Alexander, 7.45 Consequences, 8.15 Hussar Ballad, 8.45 Venturous

Racing Post Ratings: Steve Mason

Cobra De Mai (2.45 Stratford, nap)

Below par at Chepstow last time, but had shaped well on his Uttoxeter reappearance and looks well-treated on the pick of last season's form.

Topspeed: Dave Edwards

Elusive Heights (6.30 Newcastle)

Did not enjoy the rub of the green when a fast-finishing fourth in a slowly run race here nine days ago but could end his barren spell if given a clear passage.

Longshot: Vishal Junglee

New Day Dawn (2.35 Lingfield)

Finished a creditable sixth last time out in a Group 3, having run well in a Class 1 Listed race. Will be a big threat if Luke Morris grabs the lead with this progressive sort.

Ireland: Tony O'Hehir

Kilbarry Way (1.05 Clonmel)

A bumper winner who performed creditably when fourth on his hurding debut at Galway on Sunday, Rachael Blackmore's mount faces what looks a lesser task here as he steps up almost half a mile in distance.

Comanche Chieftain has four wins from five starts at Stratford and is two from two in 2m3f chases under Wayne Hutchinson. The Neil King-trained six-year-old goes over that distance in the 2.45.
