1pt each-way James Fanshawe has already won one big staying handicap this year and he might have the right ammunition for another in the shape of in Saturday’s Betfred Ebor Handicap (3.35) at York.

The trainer’s Higher Power won the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle in July, but was rerouted to Friday’s Lonsdale Cup (finished last) and left this race to Star Storm, for whom James Doyle was an early booking.

Having raced eight times last season, showing his best form in November when running a close second to the 110-rated Western Hymn off level weights at Kempton, Star Storm has been raced much more sparingly this term, with only two starts so far, which hopefully suggests Fanshawe thinks he has been worth aiming at a big prize.
