All season I have been convinced he was incredibly well handicapped and I kept backing him for races at Cheltenham – his favourite course – only for the rain to come on the day and for him to seemingly not get home on the softening ground.

So there’s was no way he was going to get my support 12 days ago on bad ground at Newbury in the Greatwood Gold Cup, in which he duly bolted up by 20 lengths at 8-1, with the horse I’d backed finishing second just for good measure.
