Dusky Legend will like the ground at Cheltenham
Better ground would suit him as he’s very much a good-ground horse. He was third in this a couple of years ago and, though I’m not sure whether he’s still as good as that, he’s had a break, he’s fresh and well and he’ll be helped by Kevin Dowling’s 10lb claim.
We're excited about him. He landed the Ryanair Chase two years ago and is back to try again on Thursday. He missed last season but appears to have retained a lot of his ability and I’m very happy with him. I could not have been more pleased with his comeback and he’s had a good break since. We left him alone for a couple of weeks and then built him back up gradually. Uxizandre will wear cheekpieces just to sharpen him up – he had no headgear on first time back as he was very fresh.
The owners of sponsor the race. She ran a blinder for them to finish second in it last year and we’re hoping for another good run this time. As last year, she goes there after a break and the strong pace and decent ground will suit her. She’s had a good season and won a couple and, though she was put in her place by La Bague Au Roi at Newbury, that winner is an exceptional mare.
