Dubawi Fifty leaps off the page now he is stepped up in trip and should be backed accordingly in Newcastle’s 2m Betway Marathon Handicap (3.20).

The Paul and Clare Rooney-owned gelding has a pedigree packed with stamina, and can prove himself better than an official mark of 73 now he tackles a more suitable distance.

My selection caught the eye over a totally inadequate mile at the Gosforth Park track last month when a two-and-a-half-length runner-up to Westward Ho, and built on that performance pitched into handicap company (1m4f) for the first time ten days later.
