Doncaster Placepot picks: Tom Collins runs you through his Wednesday perm

Nurseries rarely fall into the simple bracket, but the 7f contest (1.45) that opens Doncaster's St Leger meeting looks to revolve around market leaders Modern Games and Sed Maarib. It would be foolish to complicate matters to kickstart your Placepot perm.

All eyes will be on Cracksman's brother Frantastic in the following maiden (2.20) and although he could make the frame, I want to take him on over this inadequate mile test. The equally well-bred Israr and experienced Shabbab get the vote.

The Leger Legends (2.50) is a brilliant spectacle but not an ideal race to feature in a Placepot as it's hard to know what to expect. Shining Aitch, Thrave and Vasco Da Gama provide a three-pronged attack.

Highfield Princess, who has finished in the places on all seven starts this season, picks herself in the feature Sceptre Stakes (3.25). Irish challenger Wren's Breath also shouldn't be missed after her impressive Naas victory.

Arecibo holds a class edge in the following Scarbrough Stakes (4.00), but he's had a tough season and may not appreciate the small field. Last year's winner Tarboosh rates a banker to hit the frame.

It's hard to get away from the unbeaten Faisal in the closing 1m2f handicap (4.30). The three-time winner was extremely impressive after a slow start at Windsor last time and looks a safe bet to feature in the finish.
