The exciting Dark Vision was an impressive winner of the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood, coming from last to first. The form of those who finished close to him has taken the shine off the performance, but three Champagne winners – Don’t Forget Me, Alhaarth and Lucky Story (also trained by Mark Johnston and carried the penalty) – have completed the same double since 1986.

Neither of Aidan O’Brien’s winners of this race finished in the first four on their previous start. His Van Beethoven has found his Group 2 penalty a stumbling block since winning the Railway Stakes.
