It is almost two years since Fridtjof Nansen won a race, his one and only win, but he was cursed with wretched luck in the 50-80 7f handicap at Galway last year when a fast-finishing fifth and he is 5lb lower now in the same race so it is hard to resist having a little nibble.
There has been a dramatic change of tactics lately too. So often a hold-up performer, Fridtjof Nansen has been ridden aggressively from the front in handicaps at Leopardstown and Limerick and was only collared late in both.
