David Baxter with his best two-year-old bet at Doncaster on Saturday
Publicist
1.05 Doncaster
1pt win
I backed Publicist last week on debut at Newmarket, and while she didn't deliver that day, she ran promisingly enough to make me want to double down on her at Doncaster.
Trainer James Tate did warn Publicist would benefit from her first outing, and so it proved as she held every chance entering the final furlong, but couldn't go on and finished fourth.
The fact she is back out so quickly suggests Tate is happy with how she's done since that run, and she is hopefully now more streetwise. Oisin Murphy is back aboard again, which only enhances confidence.
