Cracking The Puzzle

Harry Wilson strikes with a 9-2 winner in the Doncaster day two opener and has a tip for every race

Harry Wilson returns with his advice for all eight races on day two of the St Leger meeting at Doncaster on Friday.

1.15 Doncaster
Betfred Flying Scotsman Stakes (Listed), 7f

Harry's tip: Forbidden Fire

Forbidden Fire created a fine impression when winning comfortably on her debut at Salisbury last month, looking better the further she went as she pulled five and a half lengths clear of her nearest rival. She is well bred, being a half-sister to Group 2 winner See The Fire, and should have plenty more to offer now stepping up in trip.

1.50 Doncaster
Betfred Leger Legends Classified Stakes, 1m

Harry's tip: Wield

Wield ran his best race since joining Joseph Parr when going down by less than a length in a first-time tongue-tie at Southwell last time. He ran well on turf for his previous yard, so the surface switch should not be a problem, and is fancied to give the recently retired Joe Fanning a winning return to the saddle.

2.25 Doncaster
Carlsberg Danish Pilsner Flying Childers Stakes (Group 2), 5f

Harry's tip: Carry The Flag

Carry The Flag has shown plenty of speed over 6f on his last three starts, notably doing well to finish second in the Prix Morny at Deauville having set a fast pace. He recorded a good Topspeed figure that day and could prove hard to catch from the front now dropping back in trip.

3.00 Doncaster
Betfred Howard Wright Doncaster Cup Stakes (Group 2), 2m2f

Harry's tip: Beylerbeyi

With Queenstown a non-runner, I'll side with Beylerbeyi, who ran with plenty of credit when a staying-on fifth in the Ebor last time. He is 2-4 at this track, including an unlucky defeat in last year's Mallard Handicap, and proved he stayed this trip when a comfortable winner of the Cesarewitch in October.

3.35 Doncaster
British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap, 1m4f

Harry's tip: Nochebuena

Nochebuena has posted progressive Racing Post Ratings on her four starts, notably winning a novice over course and distance before going down by just a short head on her handicap debut at Ascot last time. That race has worked out well, with the first, third and fourth winning since, and she looks capable of going one better.

4.10 Doncaster
Coopers EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes, 7f

Harry's tip: Victoria Night

Victoria Night made a promising debut at Sandown last month, travelling superbly well throughout before going down by just a head to a more experienced rival who had Listed/Group form. She is bred to be useful and should build on that debut.

4.45 Doncaster
Tanbry Construction Nursery Handicap, 6f

Harry's tip: Baddaddan

Baddaddan shaped well when fourth in a good Newbury novice on his debut – the winner and second are now rated 91 and 90 – and had no trouble getting the better of an 88-rated rival next time at Nottingham. This should be more suitable than the sales race he tackled last time and he looks underestimated by a mark of 83.

5.20 Doncaster
Pertemps Network Handicap, 1m2f

Harry's tip: Everyoneknowsadave

Everyoneknowsadave won well at Nottingham in July and proved this mark was not beyond him when going down by a short head to an improver at Southwell last month. He is officially 3lb well in and has sound claims.
