STONEHALL JACK can continue the revival in form shown at Kilbeggan two weeks ago by winning over the same course and 3m1f trip this evening (7.10).

The seven-year-old, on whom Luke Dempsey dictated the pace throughout to record a first chase success at the 20th attempt, has got away with a 6lb rise in the ratings. Not only does that mean he receives weight from his eight rivals in this better-class handicap, but he remains 12lb below the mark he was originally handed as a novice towards the end of the season before last.

It would be hard to deny that mark provided an inflated idea of his ability, and yet he showed a fair level of consistency at that stage of his career before losing his way last season. A third placing at Tramore last month gave a clear hint he had found his level, and he relished to the return to today's venue where he has previously finished close-up in fifth in a 2m4f handicap chase in June.
