Course specialist Sands Chorus not to be underestimated at Ripon

Epsom

The Patrick Chamings-trained DOURADO (5.20) struck over this course and distance last time out and can do so again in the finale.

The three-year-old won one of six starts for Richard Hannon last season and scored on his second outing for Chamings in a similar contest four weeks ago, just getting the better of Benjamin Thomas with five lengths back to the winner Habbad. That looks solid form and a 2lb rise in the weights looks quite lenient.

OH IT’S SAUCEPOT (4.50) has improved and can continue her progress in the 1m2f handicap.

Chris Wall’s three-year-old was beaten six lengths on her comeback at Newmarket in May but found the necessary improvement to scrape home on the July course six weeks later and made it back-to-back wins when stepping up to 1m1f at Yarmouth last time out. She went up only 4lb for that and promises to be even more effective on her first try over 1m2f.

Mark Johnston enjoyed success with his juveniles at York last week and his LYNWOOD GOLD (2.35) merits serious respect on his debut in the 1m113yds maiden. He cost €60,000 and is related to plenty of winners, with a couple of half-brothers successful in Group 3 races.

Ripon

SANDS CHORUS (4.30) always merits respect at this track and this race is no different.

The five-year-old has raced here six times for James Given, winning three times and finishing second on two other occasions including last time out when he made most and plugged on for a clear second.

That was over a mile but this 1m2f is probably his favoured trip and he can add a third course-and-distance win of the season.

Carlisle

Iain Jardine scored a famous victory in the Ebor on Saturday and can continue his run of good form with THORNTOUN CARE (7.45).

The six-year-old was unable to justify favouritism here two starts back, but he was unsuited by the steady pace that day and repaid his supporters with an odds-on success at Musselburgh four days later, seeing off Mambo Dancer.

He should go well again despite a 4lb rise.

Newton Abbot

The Barry Brennan-trained MRSROBIN (7.05) was pulled up at Perth last time out, but she has had a break since then and it may be worth giving her another chance.

The seven-year-old produced a career-best when landing a course-and-distance handicap chase by 14 lengths last August and showed a willing attitude to double her account in a Uttoxeter handicap hurdle in May.

She is fairly treated on those displays.
