Conditions all in favour of Sharaakah at Newmarket

If you like your two-year-olds you are in for a treat at Newmarket on Wednesday afternoon, with the first seven races on the eight-race card being restricted to juveniles. It's not until the final contest, the Home Of Racing Fillies' Handicap (5.20) over 1m, that the older horses get a look in, but it's in that event that the best bet of the meeting lies in the shape of Ed Dunlop's Sharaakah.

Three of the last four runnings of this race have gone to a three year old and she is one of just two in this year's line-up, but she has a lot going for her on plenty of other levels too.

It's perhaps a little disappointing that she hasn't managed to win since finishing a close third of the 21 runners behind Persuasive in the Sandringham Handicap on her belated return to action in June, but she has run well on a few occasions in the meantime, including finishing fourth behind Muffri'Ha in a similar event to this over course and distance 18 days ago, when the only other three year old in Wednesday's race, Fourth Way, finished a long way behind her.
