Chelmsford Placepot picks: Tom Segal picks two bankers in his perm
With the step up to 7f sure to suit on pedigree, Alexa's Princess looks banker Placepot material in the opening nursery (1.35) at Chelmsford.
Similarly, Lila Girl looks the one to beat in the following handicap (2.10). The handicapper could have put her up more than 6lb for her recent course-and-distance win and she can be relied on.
The Placepot gets much tougher after that and two are required in each of the other four races, starting with G'Daay and Way To Win in the Mark Elks 70 Years Young Celebration Handicap (2.45).
G'Daay was impressive in a good time at Lingfield recently, while Way To Win is well handicapped on his best all-weather form.
Soft Whisper has more to offer and looks the one to beat in the Listed race (3.20) but she is drawn wide and has been off the track for nearly two months. She Do is a plausible alternative as she is open to more improvement and should have the race run to suit.
The Betsi Handicap (3.55) is a good race and if Above can reproduce the form of his second at Newmarket in April, he would have a good chance of defying topweight. Tolstoy is open to improvement and should be included.
The final Placepot race, the Sarcoma Awareness Handicap (4.30), might be the hardest to get through, but Mcqueen is consistent and can improve for blinkers, while Shifter stepped up on previous form last time and is bred to be a lot better than she is rated.
