Cheekpieces can give well-handicapped sort a boost

Most of the fancied runners in the Great St Wilfred Handicap are drawn high including the strongly-fancied favourite Growl in stall 18, but it could be worth looking two boxes along to stall 16 where the Ann Duffield-trainer George Dryden will break from in first-time cheekpieces.

The five-year-old gelding is starting to look well handicapped on the best of his form now running off a mark of 95 and despite not being the easiest to predict, he looks likely to run a good race now back at Ripon where he has run well on all three starts.
