Chatez ready to build on excellent Leicester Flat run

In the introductory juvenile hurdle at Kempton we run Redicean, a sales purchase out of David O’Meara’s yard and a winner last time over 1m6f. We gelded him and he was schooled on the grass for the first time on Monday.

Kempton stages a mares’ handicap hurdle that might be a race for Midnight Tour. She has been running well, including in a Kempton Listed race, but we have the option of another Listed race at Sandown on January 6.

Chatez could have his first jumps run since February 2015 in the 2m handicap hurdle. He was due to go to Huntingdon only for the meeting to be abandoned, but this looks to be another good place to build on his excellent Flat outing at Leicester provided there is give in the ground. I think he retains an awful lot of his ability.

The likely better ground at Kempton would suit Azzerti, who could also run in the race.
