Chaplin Bay looks tailor-made for Pontefract sprint

THINGS haven't quite panned out for Chaplin Bay since his highly impressive Hamilton victory in mid-May.

After unleashing a sharp turn of foot to slam Keene’s Pointe by four and a half lengths at the Scottish track, Ruth Carr’s sprinter looked one to keep firmly on side.

A car-park draw scuppered hopes of a follow-up at Carlisle next time and he was arguably given too much to do in the Catterick contest won by Luis Vaz De Torres subsequently where it paid to race handily.
