Cawley to win duel of Galway trainers

In the week leading up to the highlight of the racing year in the west of Ireland, County Galway trainers Brian Cawley and Martin Cullinane are involved in a head-to head clash that could provide the solution to a 2m5f handicap hurdle (8.30) at Ballinrobe on Tuesday.

This is a low-level contest, but represents an intriguing duel because it involves a renewal of rivalry between the Cullinane-trained veteran Georgie and the Cawley-trainedThink Of Me, who was only a head behind him when the pair were placed in aBellewstown handicap won by the well-fancied Jack Slade.

The 11-year-old Georgie, a winner at the Galway festival four seasons ago, has not won since landing another Galway handicap at the October meeting in 2013. He was allowed to dictate the pace at Bellewstown and held a significant lead at one stage, but was a sitting duck when tackled at the last.
