Catterick Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway has a small perm at the Yorkshire track

Four of the six races at Catterick on Tuesday feature at least eight runners and that is more than can be said for the other two fixtures. That makes it the best option for the Placepot.

There are 13 declared for the opening 2m3½f handicap hurdle (1.00) and it looks competitive. Jelski ran well at Sedgefield last time and goes in, alongside Kings Creek.

The winner will be needed in the 2m3f novice chase (1.30) and it’s hard to discount any of them. Put all three – Cornerstone Lad, Mackenberg and Nero Rock – in and hope for an upset.

Just two places are on offer in the following 1m7½f handicap chase (2.05) and coverage is needed. Course-and-distance winner Da Vinci Hand should go well, along with Ben Brody.

The 1m7½f maiden hurdle (2.40) is an interesting race featuring several promising youngsters. It looks worth banking on the consistent form-horse Monte Igueldo.

Trainer Jonjo O’Neill does well at Catterick and his Frisco Bay has a big chance in the 3m1f handicap chase (3.15), while Lady Bowes is a banker in the 3m1½f handicap hurdle (3.50).
