Blue could be off colour so put your faith in Toscanini

Last season's outstanding juvenile running on the same card as the colt who took the baton off him. It is fascinating stuff at the Curragh as Caravaggio attempts to win for a fourth time at two in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes (3.35) while Air Force Blue tries to win for the first time at three in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes (4.05).

There seemed to be more positivity surrounding Air Force Blue's July Cup display. He never had any room to make a challenge, was eased close home and finished 12th of 18 behind Limato – seven lengths in arrears of the impressive winner. But will he fancy it when he comes off the bridle?

He travelled fine to the three-furlong pole in both the British and Irish Guineas but began to paddle when Ryan Moore asked for more and, had he got serious in the July Cup, I fear the response would have been the same. To these eyes, he has simply not trained on from two to three and is worth taking on.
