Blinkers could aid classy Macarthur in Irish Cambridgeshire

There has been only one three-year-old winner of the Tote Irish Cambridgeshire (5.00) in the last decade, that was Punch Your Weight in 2012, but General Macarthur might be able to strike another blow for the Classic generation on Sunday.

You do not usually associate Aidan O'Brien with landing big handicaps but he has been doing pretty well in them this season and the key to General Macarthur could be the fitting of blinkers for the first time. He looks the type that could improve greatly for the application of headgear.

General Macarthur has never contested a handicap before and being covered up in a big field might just be what the doctor ordered. His last two efforts have been disappointing but he did get to within two and a half lengths of Endless Drama at Naas in July and his cosy defeat of Tony The Gent at Navan earlier in the summer does not look too bad either.
