Big fields the order of the day at Fairyhouse
Punters chasing the Pick 6 at Fairyhouse face a daunting task on paper with 118 runners and nine reserves declared for the six races.
To strike a more positive note, the two maiden hurdles can be narrowed to a relatively small group. The Willie Mullins-trained Great White Shark, runner-up to the useful Caravation at Navan, is put forward along with Little Light and Tens Or Better in the 2m mares' event.
Placed three times before contesting the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham, Discordantly possibly has most to fear from Elite Charboniere, who flopped at Leopardstown after Christmas, in the 2m4f contest.
Mullins has won the 2m Grade 2 novice hurdle in five of the last six years. Ruby Walsh's mount Mister Blue Sky may prove best of his three runners and is the main danger to Gordon Elliott's Eclair De Beaufeu, who ran well until exiting at the last in the County Hurdle.
Emmet Mullins saddles Zero Ten with good prospects of upstaging his uncle's four runners in the 2m4f Grade 2. Oliver McKiernan's Gallant John Joe rates a threat having won over a trip short of his best at Naas.
The two handicaps have attracted a 25-runner maximum. In the 2m4f mares' event Duke's Girl, having her first run for Elliott, and Bianca Minola, a three-time Flat winner having her first handicap hurdle outing, are suggested as the two against the field.
Scotch Quay, who followed up his breakthrough Clonmel win at Wexford on Friday, can now defy a 6lb penalty for Eoin Griffin and Ricky Doyle in the finale.
