Big fields make the Wincanton Placepot appealing - try this 12-line perm

Wincanton: local initiative to attract owners

Some big fields at Wincanton give Placepot punters a fighting chance of the outsiders blocking out some of the places.

The opening mares' maiden hurdle lacks depth and offers a good opportunity for a banker, but the maiden next up has a few pitfalls which may be best avoided with the experienced and consistent Mickey Buckman, who is joint-top on RPRs.

Those two give some breathing space on some tricky handicaps, notably the 3.00 in which three may be needed. In a 0-100 full of unexposed but seemingly limited sorts, three horses with tangible form behind them should hopefully be enough.

The 3.35 is another low-grade handicap. Bill And Barn and Putdecashonthedash are faintly interesting at this level and are quite readily forgiven their latest runs.

The last two races are both useful handicaps. Two are needed to get through the hurdle, but the closing leg is an eight-runner chase in which Le Boizelo stands out for place purposes. As it is the last leg, there is also the option of a place lay for those getting nervous.

Selections:
1.50 – 3
2.25 – 9
3.00 – 2, 3, 8
3.35 – 4, 6
4.10 – 4, 11
4.45 – 2
