Beggar backers down and out as Reflektor shines close home

Plenty of punters thought Lucky Beggar was going to get up in the 5f handicap at Chester and he was backed down to 1.03, but that looked low enough and Reflektor, who was backed at 36 well inside the final furlong, still had a short-head in hand at the line.

The well-backed Kimberella looked desperately unlucky not to win the Chipchase at Newcastle after trading at 1.39. While he was getting into all kinds of trouble Intisaab (1.22) went clear, only for Koropick (70) to time it better and get up on the line.

Capri was there to be shot at all the way up the home straight in the Irish Derby and drifted to 44. However, neither Wings Of Eagles (1.31) nor Cracksman (evens) could make up the ground in time.
