Ayr

LOGI (4.00) didn’t progress when trained by Richard Hannon last year, but he made a successful start for David Barron at Wolverhampton in February and can win this 6f handicap.

He made all then but was ridden just off the pace in two subsequent turf handicaps. He has slipped to a career-low mark and might be hard to catch if Phillip Makin is positive once more.

Makin also has a decent chance aboard GLENGARRY (4.30) in the 7f handicap. He ended last season with a lacklustre display but had previously been progressive.

Leicester

There are some promising three-year-olds on show in the 7f handicap, with the Roger Varian-trained EJAABY (8.00) preferred.

The son of Helmet was placed twice as a juvenile and made it third time lucky when reappearing at Wolverhampton last month, travelling strongly throughout and pulling nearly two lengths clear when asked for an effort in the closing stages.

He still appeared to be learning his job that day and looks reasonably treated for his handicap debut.

Exeter

CAPTAIN BUCK’S (6.45) has won two of his last three starts and should be hard to beat in the 2m7f handicap hurdle.

He didn’t seem to enjoy making the running at Wincanton in March, but he bounced back to form over this course and distance last time out, staying on strongly to defy his front-running stablemate Rouge Devils.

He is open to further progress over staying trips now that he goes back into handicap company.

Fakenham

QUEEN SPUD (3.40) has been a little below par recently, but she loves it at Fakenham and could easily bounce back in the Norfolk National.

She was beaten 25 lengths at Haydock last time, taking her losing streak to three, but she has won on all four visits to this track, including a 3m handicap in November off this mark.

This new trip is a question, but she hasn’t looked short of stamina in previous runs.

Ffos Las

Nicky Henderson sends two runners on the trip west from Seven Barrows and both would have leading claims, starting with LE DAUPHIN (3.50) in the 2m4f handicap.

The six-year-old had a breathing operation after flopping at Ludlow in February and it helped him to produce a career-best at Kempton last month when he won a novice hurdle easily.

He is bred to be better than a mark of 121 allotted for this first handicap.
