Bank on impressive Summer Mile winner Mohaather in the Sussex

This looks like a good card for a Placepot with competitive races throughout.

Waliyak rates banker material in the opener (1.10) provided all eight run. She should finish in the first three, but if there is a non-runner only two places will be on offer. Bear that in mind.

The staying handicap (1.45) looks ripe for a Mark Johnston special with Rochester House. Put him in with Smart Champion, who finished a place ahead of him at Royal Ascot.

The 1m4f handicap (2.15) looks the sort of race where there might be an upset. Take a chance on Damage Control bouncing back to form and put Johnston’s King’s Caper in at a big price.

Steel Bull is one of my bets of the day in the Markel Insurance Molecomb Stakes (2.45).

Only seven line up for the Qatar Sussex Stakes (3.15) so only two places are available. It’s risky to make Mohaather a banker, but he was so impressive at Ascot and can win this.

The juvenile sprint (3.45) is the last leg and, with only six runners, just two places will be on offer. Don’t take any risks here and stick with improving pair Miss Jingles and Spright.
