Ayr Placepot picks: Graeme Rodway's selections for a £100,000 pool

The Tote are putting up their £100,000 Placepot guarantee at Ayr, so let’s play the bet there.

The opening 2m conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle (12.30) is an open race. Atlantic Dancer won well over course and distance last season and goes in alongside Beat Box.

Only two places will be available in the 2m junior hurdle (1.00) and Newton Abbot winner Sailing Grace looks the solid option. However, it’s also worth including Noble Intrigue.

The 2m maiden hurdle (1.30) looks a good opportunity for Ivar to build on his promising second at Bangor in November. He has had wind surgery since that run and can go one better.

Rae Des Champs rates one of my best bets of the day in the 2m4½f handicap hurdle (2.00) and is a banker, but the following 2m5½f novice hurdle (2.30) is a much trickier contest. Only two places are on offer, so put both Step Above and Are U Wise To That into the perm.

Lord Roco is another big fancy on the day and is a banker in the 3m handicap chase (3.00).
