Ascot Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his perm for the Berkshire track

The 7f amateur jockeys’ handicap (2.00) kicks off the Placepot at Ascot and 15 runners means only three places are on offer. Kimifive and Spirited Guest make the most appeal.

The 2m handicap (2.35) is another tricky race. Aggagio has been in good form and must be included, but it’s also worth putting Malakahna in the perm. She will appreciate any rain.

Sweet William is one of the bets of the day and rates a banker in the 1m4f novice (3.10).

The Listed Noel Murless Stakes (3.45) looks to be between Lionel and Secret State. I’m finding it difficult to split them so it’s worth including both, even with three places on offer.

The forecast rain might have got into the ground by the fifth leg, the 6f handicap (4.20). That should suit course-and-distance winner Lethal Nymph, who looks a banker for the first three.

The closing mile Classified event (4.55) looks straightforward too. The veteran Raising Sand has a good record at Ascot and should go well again, while Bullace rates the biggest danger.
