Artful Mind, a huge eyecatcher on his debut for Charlie Fellowes at Lingfield earlier this month, stands out in Beverley’s Steve Wall Equestrian Photography Handicap (5.15).

Backed down to 5-2 favourite from 6-1 in the ten minutes before that Class 5 race, the son of Cape Cross did not enjoy the smoothest of passages in the early or middle stages, but picked up in taking style inside the final furlong to secure third place behind Plauseabella and Surety.

Judged on the manner in which he finished his race, Artful Mind would have won if it had been over an extra half-furlong and the step up in trip at Beverley is sure to play to his strengths.
